Since this is the first year I haven't had to attend my son's football games every Saturday, I made sure to keep a Saturday open to go to the mountains and take photos. Landscapes are actually the most fun for me and waterfalls just pull me in! After an hour of convincing the men in my family to leave the television and video games, we all ended up driving there together (so it wasn't really a day of photography, but that's alright)! It turned out to be a wonderful place to take the family. These falls are just north of Tallulah Gorge. You have to travel around Lake Rabun, which alone is a gorgeous drive! After meandering through lots of twists and turns, you turn onto a dirt road and hopefully find a place to park. It's a short, slightly inclined walk to the falls and completely worth the drive. Once you are there, you can hike up a very steep slope to the top and meander through the woods along the creek and rocks that feed into it. I was able to do it with my backpack, tripod, and galoshes in hand all while helping my daughter at times. I would highly suggest it for a nice family day trip! My 8 and 12 year old hiked up it just fine, but it would be difficult for those scared easily or under age 7.
I really should have left the shutter open longer on this one, but it's still nice.
This is the view from the top of the falls looking down.
My sweet ones. Conner would die if I put this on Facebook and tagged him.
These poor people went to take a group photo and realized their camera battery was dead so I took a few for them and emailed the photos to them. We also saw another guy drop his camera in the creek. Two hands and extra batteries and you will be fine!
